First of all, it was the perfect story for that kind of finish. Vader, at the time, was this unstoppable monster who simply could not be beaten. Flair was aging and losing confidence in his abilities. The match was in his hometown, and if Flair lost... he had to retire from the business. How in the World was Flair to win?
The match starts, and for pretty much 20 minutes straight Ric Flair got the ever living shit beat out of him. Flair had his moments, but Vader could not be stop. Every time Flair tried something, Vader would simply out power and manhandle him. Then, after 20 minutes, Flair gets the upper hand on the gassed monster. He is able to lock in the Figure Four, but of course Vader gets out. However, the damage is done... Vader's knee is hurt and he is vulnerable. Vader nevertheless gets control back of the match, until making the big mistake of going for the moonsault. Harley Race sticks his nose where it doesn't belong, but it ends up costing Vader even more since he is the one who receives Race's headbutt. Flair then starts giving Vader the hardest punches and chops he possible can, and then he hits the ropes, only to get counter by a bell chop. Vader thinks Flair is down so he catches his breath, but before he knows it, Flair goes for a chopblock roll up to get the win. The place fucking EXPLODES and Flair is the new WCW World Champion. Incredible match and moment.
