According to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office, a boating accident on the Cane River near the 300 block of Shoreline Drive in Natchitoches occurred at 6:35 on Saturday.
Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies, NPSO Rescue Boat, Natchitoches Police Department, Natchitoches City Fire Department, Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Agents, and Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS responded.
The boat held two people inside.
One patient was taken to Natchitoches Regional Medical Center and then transferred with critical injuries to a Shreveport facility.
The other boat passenger had minor injuries but did not require EMS transportation.
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries will be looking into the watercraft disaster.
